    🇺🇸 Don’t forget! 4th of July Bike Parade - Saturday, July 4, 2026 at 10 AM @ Slavens

Cover your ride with festive decoration and join us at the field at Slavens School for a bike/scoot/walk around the neighborhood behind a fire truck! Plan to arrive at least a few minutes early for goodies and to line up! Due to drought conditions, the fire department will not spray the field this year. Let us know if you have an alternate idea for post-parade fun by replying to this email!

History

Denver Public Schools is beginning the process of evaluating potential changes to school boundaries and zones for all schools in the district, including possibly Slavens. These changes will be determined by October 2026 and go into effect in the 2027-2028 school year. At this stage, DPS is soliciting community input. A Note from Principal Darcie Forde

Dear Slavens Families,

I hope you and your family are enjoying a wonderful start to summer vacation.

I wanted to share an update regarding the enrollment boundaries and zones process. Attached is the presentation that was recently shared with the Denver Board of Education. It provides an overview of the district's process, community engagement efforts to date, and the data being reviewed as DPS considers future boundary and enrollment zone decisions.

At this time, no specific recommendations or decisions have been made. The district continues to gather feedback, review data, and engage with communities before developing potential scenarios later this year.

A few additional updates:

• DPS is currently developing a Frequently Asked Questions document based on questions received throughout the engagement process. Once finalized, the district will post the FAQs publicly and will also follow up directly with individuals who submitted questions.

• DPS plans to share the full survey results, along with additional analysis regarding the health of current boundaries and enrollment zones, later this summer.

• The Southeast regional community engagement meeting is currently expected to take place on September 8 at 6:00 p.m. DPS will share location and RSVP information when it becomes available.

As always, I will continue to keep our community informed and will share updates, resources, survey results, FAQs, and engagement opportunities as they become available.

Thank you for your continued partnership, and enjoy the rest of your summer!

Warmly,

Darcie
