Please join us for our annual 4th of July Bike Parade on Friday July 4, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Slavens!

Cover your ride with festive decoration and join us at Slavens School (intersection of Dallas & Cornell) for a bike/scoot/walk around the neighborhood behind a fire truck! Arrive 10-15 minutes early for 4th of July goodies and to be ready to go when the fire truck arrives. Then, stay after the parade to play in the spray when the fire truck turns on the hose!

Don’t want to parade? Come cheer along the route and then stay to visit with your neighbors and celebrate the day!

🚒 Parade Route

The parade will travel counterclockwise from the intersection of S Dallas Way and E Cornell Ave along E Cornell Ave, S Dallas Way, S Clayton Street, and back to the start on S Dallas Way.

🏥 Protect your family from the measles! With an uptick of measles cases in Colorado and outbreaks in nearby states like Texas and New Mexico, consider your family’s protection from measles today. Measles is a serious and very contagious disease.

Kids: Nearly one out of every three children under the age of 5 who catch measles ends up in the hospital. Given the current measles outbreaks, the risk of your child coming in contact with measles is higher than usual, and unvaccinated kids may be at increased risk for severe illness if they are exposed. Getting your kiddos two doses of the measles mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine is the best way to keep your kids healthy. Kids should receive their first MMR dose between 12-15 months and another dose between 4-6 years (Denver Public Health, CDPHE)

Adults: It’s never too late to get vaccinated against measles. Two doses of MMR are considered 97% effective at preventing measles infection. Older adults who were exposed to measles as a child are considered to have lifelong immunity, but some adults may have received a less effective vaccine in their youth, while others may have received only one dose (Colorado Sun). 🏥

🏘️ Welcome to the Summer of RNO Reform!

The offices of Councilwoman Gonzales-Gutierrez and Councilman Kashmann are looking into our city’s current RNO Ordinance with hopes to strengthen our RNOs and empower our residents to engage with their neighborhoods and government. The RNO Ordinance was written in the 70s and Denver City Council recognizes the need to update the ordinance to reflect the needs of today. Our hope is to increase equity, participation, and city support to the RNO network.

BUT before we get started, we want to hear from you! Our offices are dedicated to a robust community engagement process over the course of this summer and fall, to gather data and reform the ordinance with recommendations from Denverites. We are gathering our data by asking folks to fill out a survey and hope you can fill it out too!

🚒 Denver Fire Department Strategic Planning

The Denver Fire Department is collecting valuable insights and feedback to assist us in forming our goals and objectives for our 5-year strategic plan which begins in 2026. We truly appreciate you taking the time to tell us what fire department issues are important to you and your community. The survey will close on July 31, 2025.
